EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Claire Afrassiabian, Kara Shumock and Teresa Grasso won their singles matches. However, host East Stroudsburg still managed to take two of the doubles matches and split the singles to earn a 5-4 PSAC women's tennis victory Saturday afternoon.
Afrassiabian, playing at third singles, orchestrated a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mandi Rutt. Meanwhile, Shumock was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Sarah Deisher at fourth singles, and Grasso was a 6-4, 4-6, 7-1 winner over Liz Farnsworth at sixth singles.
The Warriors captured the top three singles as well as No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to eeke out the win. Maria Kostaris and Rose Conwell teamed up at No. 1 doubles for West Chester's only other win.
West Chester closes out its 2008 regular season on Friday with a match against Kutztown.
